The Department of Germanic Studies at Indiana University (IU), Bloomington, in conjunction with the IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages (IUHPFL), is proud to announce Taylor Tadlock of Culver Academies as the recipient of the first ever "Krefeld Reduction in Fees Award" valued at $4,500.
The award will cover all IUHPFL program fees, allowing Taylor to study German in Krefeld, Germany during the summer of 2011. Taylor's essay was chosen out of many outstanding essays for the award.
"We are excited about the ability to offer this award to one of our students," said Stephanie Goetz, Managing Director of IUHPFL. "The international language program offers students an exceptional opportunity to significantly advance their language skills while gaining a rich foreign experience."
Every year the IUHPFL program sends more than 225 high school students to nine sites in Europe and Mexico where they become fully immersed in the foreign language and host country. For seven weeks, students participate in intensive language and cultural studies, live with a host family, and take part in multiple excursions.
