Without the support of dedicated high school teachers and counselors throughout Indiana, IUHPFL would not have enjoyed its remarkable success over the last 60 years. Every August, Indiana high schools are contacted and invited to participate in our student recruitment process. At that time, schools update their world language teacher contact information on the IUHPFL Annual High School Update Form and request IUHPFL promotional materials to share with their students. Additionally, world language teachers introduce their students to the program's promotional video and an array of photos and videos submitted by past participants, as well as flyers and other materials available on our Teacher Resources page.
Qualifying Students and Schools
IUHPFL encourages high school teachers who are interested in promoting the program to their students to become familiar with the following information:
- Eligibility requirements for students and schools
- IUHPFL Honor Code
- Program Fees and Airfare
- Application Process
- Important dates pertaining to registration, application, and financial assistance, which are provided on the Student Checklist.
Promoting IUHPFL to Students and Guardians
Whether you and your school have participated or are new to the program, IUHPFL is committed to providing you with the best available information and materials to maximize efficiency and keep your time invested at a minimum. Please review these guidelines for promoting IUHPFL to students.
Alumni who receive the Award of Excellence on their IUHPFL Diplomas can be of great help in promoting the program to new potential applicants and should be encouraged to present the program not only to classes in their own language, but also to those of other world languages. See IUHPFL Alumni Talking Points for questions and ideas that can help students with these kinds of presentations.
