This past June, IUHPFL was awarded a $24,965 grant through the IU Foundation’s Affinity Giving program. The grant, jointly funded by the Black Philanthropy Circle and the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council, is aimed at expanding access to IUHPFL among Indiana high school students from historically underrepresented or marginalized backgrounds including those from rural communities.
A portion of the grant funds are being used to conduct outreach to high schools and communities that have not been reached in traditional outreach efforts. The vast majority of the funds, however, will be used for student scholarships. IUHPFL hopes to offer five to six larger scholarships (e.g., scholarships that cover half of the program fees or more) for Summer 2025 programs to students with the greatest financial need, with priority going to students from high schools reached in these new outreach endeavors. The grant award was featured in IU Today in September.
The Affinity Giving Grant is a one-time award. However, IUHPFL hopes to continue scholarship-raising efforts to be able to support participation by students with high financial need. All of our scholarship funds come from grants or donations. If you are interested in contributing to IUHPFL student scholarships, please consider making a donation at the link below.
