Why did you decide to do IUHPFL?
I chose IUHPFL because I've always been drawn to new environments, and this program offers an experience that's way deeper than just visiting a place. Spending over a month abroad and speaking only French would help me apply what I've been learning in a real-world way.
What are you most excited about?
It may seem silly, but I'm really excited to utilize and navigate my way around using public transportation. It's something I'm not really able to do where I live, so the idea of getting around a city by metro, bus, or simply walking is something small but extremely exciting to me!
What are you most nervous for?
The idea of not being able to express myself in the way I'm used to is what worries me. Having limited vocabulary might make it hard to fully show my personality.
What is something interesting or unique about you?
It's on my bucket list to complete the original six Abbott World Marathon Majors; Chicago, New York, Boston, Tokyo, London, and Berlin. I'm nearly half way through completing this goal of mine!
What is one goal you have for yourself this summer?
My biggest goal is to become more confident when speaking French. I want to be able to hold conversations without second-guessing every word I say, and to express my thoughts without freezing up.
What’s your favorite French word or saying and why?
My favorite French word is "noir," which means black. It's simple, but I've always liked it, mainly because of the character Cat Noir, from Miraculous Ladybug.
